Songwriter and reggae-dancehall recording artiste, Linguakat has spoken to the plight of the disabled, especially with artificial cause.
The musician who limp, subsequent to an alleged mistreatment for rheumatism at the Korle Teaching Hospital, Ghana, over 25 years ago has finally taken the centre stage to fight down similar incidence with #FeelThePain campaign.
According to Kweku Obeng Amoako well known on stage as Linguakat, the negligence and ignorance of most healthcare practitioners have had many implications on the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian, to the extent of losing lives, as he uses his experience as an example.
The two-time Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste winner of EMA awards believes the campaign will bring a major reform in the health care systems in the country and calls for support for a successful execution.
In a circular distributed by the artiste, he had few things to share. Read below:
Have you thought of the irregularities in our health care system? Have you seen people who are living in pain because of the ignorance and negligence of certain health care professionals? Unfortunately some lives have been lost leaving families and friends in pain.
This is the time to join Kweku Obeng Amoako , a renowned artists (Linguakat) who limps due to a mistreatment on him called (skin traction) broken bone therapy instead of rheumatism treatment by a female doctor at Korle Bu Teaching hospital.
This happened in November 1995 and got him hospitalised for two months. He has lived all these years being stigmatized as a person with disability. He has lost so many opportunities in life due to this condition. There hasn’t been any redress of grievances to him for all these shortfalls. In his attempt to change his current condition, he has been told to pay the same hospital thirty thousand( 30000) cedis before he will be treated.
The time is now to curb these medical malpractices in our health care delivery.
Join the #feelthepain movement as we create awareness about these irregularities.
If it is him today, it could be you or someone close to you tomorrow.
